'L'incoronazione di Poppea', by Claudio Monteverdi with a libretto by Giovanni Francesco Busello, was premiered in 1642. The story about power in a tyrannical state and the struggle between reason and pleasure, universal themes that in the original work rescue a period of the Roman Empire, will be presented for the first time in Bogotá thanks to a unique collaboration between the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, the stage director Pedro Salazar, La Compañía Stable and one of the main early music ensembles in the world: 'Le Poème Harmonique', an orchestra conducted by the Frenchman Vincent Dumestre, along with a cast of soloists from Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Brazil.
